Description
Singapore - July 13, 2015: Windows with wooden shutters and ornate arches line historic traditional shop houses along Singapore's Joo Chiat Road. The architecture is typically Peranakan - a style prevalent in Singapore and Malaysia - which is an eclectic mix of colonial, Malay and Chinese designs. The shop house structure essentially houses a shop or warehouse on the ground floor and living quarters for the family on the upper stories. Note the arches, art and use of color in the design.
