Description
Jaffna, Sri Lanka - February 17, 2017: A view of the main entrance of the Jaffna Public Library building. Originally built in 1933 during Ceylon's colonial era it was expanded in 1959. The library held many sacred and historic texts of significance to Sri Lanka's Hindu Tamil community which were destroyed during the burning of the building in 1981 allegedly by Sinhalese Buddhist nationalist mobs.
