Description
The Torch Ginger, or Etlingera elatior, is an iconic ornamental ginger found all over the tropics. The shoots can reach several meters tall. There are numerous varieties with inflorescences ranging from pure white with whiteor red flowers to pink and red inflorescences with red flowers. The young flower buds are an important ingredient in Malaysian / Singaporean dishes such as Laksa or added to Rojak (salad).
